Default Get paid for the threads you start!

I have been personally waiting for this for a while and it is finally here…
From now on, you will see an ad by Google after the last post in each thread. When someone clicks on that ad the member who started the ad gets paid by Google.
So, the more threads you start, the more ads you’ll have out there . I don’t know whether it will give you a few pints, a few hours flying or a few thousand pounds but the beauty of this is like all things on the internet, once it’s out there it’s out there forever, so even in five or ten years time you could still be getting paid for a thread you had long forgotton about.
First of all you need to create a new account with Google Adsense (it’s free)

    https://www.google.com/adsense/

Here’s a video on youtube to guide you through this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3kfcpLGLD8

Registered members of www.thepilotsclub.com then need to go into their profiles and edit their settings adding the Google Client ID where indicated (The client id is in the top right of your adsense account and written as: pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxx replace xxxxxxxxxxxxx with your number and don't forget to write "pub-" so that your ads will be displayed on your threads)
For those yet to register at www.thepilotsclub.com they can enter the Google client ID when they sign up.
And that’s it, a dashboard will be created for you at Google Adsense where you can check in and see how much you are earning.
Any problems please let me know
    Best wishes
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
In profile settings I see there are 2 input options:
    - Adsense Channel:
    & - Adsense Client ID:

Do I put my Adsense ID in both of these fields?

    Many Thanks

    Hi Ads

As far as I know it is just the Adsense Client ID. The developer has gone home for the weekend but I'll get this checked on Monday

Do you have to create a new thread for this to work? Because I have set up adsense and entered in the pub- number in my settings but I dont see adverts under my posts. Also do we have to create adverts in google adSense then add them to our signatures on here? Im still confused with how it all works now I have my adsense account up and running.

    Cheers

    Hi Hotdog
No the ads go on to threads that you've already written. You only need to enter your client id. I can see your ads so they are set up ok. I think the program may stop you seeing your own ads when you are logged in to stop you inadvertantly clicking them but I'll get this checked out

    Hi all.
We made a few changes to this today to make your ads more visible and also to put them in your blogs. Unfortunately it means adding three extra fields in your profiles (sorry!) I just did it though and it takes 5 minutes. The first thing you need to do is go in to your google adsense account and hit the + New ad unit. It asks for the size and for the show thread and blog click on the 728 x 90. For the Last post click on 336 x 280. It then asks for type and here you want text ads and media rich ads. At the bottom it says save and get code. If you press this it takes you to a page with the code in. Half way through the code you will see google_ad_slot=" and then a number. It is this number that needs to be entered in to the extra fields.
The ads should be relevant to the thread they appear in. For instance, at the bottom of this page there are unlikely to be aviation adverts but making money online ads and under groundschool I just noticed an ad for CATS ATPL courses. Again, sorry for the extra hassle but it should make a difference.

    To confirm:

The google_ad_slot= number should be entered into:

    - AdSense Slot for Show Thread (in size 336x280)
    - AdSense Slot for Blog (in size 728 x 90)

All entered in the personal settings page on here?

    Hi Hotdog
The show thread and blog are both 728 x 90 and the last post 336 x 280. I emailed the developer since my last post about the number of non relevant ads (dating sites, etc) and I was told this could be due to a lack of relevant media rich ads available so it might be worth experimenting with text only ads and seeing what works best
