Here is a link to the YouTube video explaining it

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9yumixcN-o&sns=fb

Personally not a big fan of the video. Seems to lack any kind of facts to back up what it is saying.

I thought you wanted more hours in a month Ad?

The most annoying part for me is the idea of making crew work at any base within 1 hour of their home location. This for me would mean being expected to fly from both Luton and Stanstead in normal rostering. Not to mention the idea of 7.5 hours minimum rest away from base with the fatigue management program- how can anyone expect to get to their hotel, shower, change, sleep, get up, eat breakfast and report within the time frame of 7.5 hours, ridiculous

This little table shows just how much more pilots can be expected to work.

"The table below shows what the proposals could mean. For instance, the minimum amount of rest a pilot could get in some circumstances is down to just seven-and-a-half hours. The maximum number of hours a pilot could could be made to fly is over 16 hours and, when flying four flights in a day, nearly 13 hours, which is significantly more than is currently allowed."

Signed. It begs the question "what next?" if the new rules go through...

"10-hour minimum rest period. The rule sets a 10-hour minimum rest period prior to the flight duty period, a two-hour increase over the old rules. The new rule also mandates that a pilot must have an opportunity for eight hours of uninterrupted sleep within the 10-hour rest period."
Taken from: Press Release – FAA Issues Final Rule on Pilot Fatigue a couple of weeks ago. A bit more sensible

Some cringe German videos about the new rules, gets the point across though. Looks like the CAA have so far agreed to the new rules which could mean that it's legal to fly after being awake for 22 hours! Disgusting.

You'd have better restrictions on your hours if you drove a bus!
