Evening Gents
I am approaching the 300 hour mark and am considering the above course. Would appreciate any thoughts on whether this is a worthwhile course with so many pilots struggling to find work.
Thanks in advance

I have considered going onto becoming an instructor for the period that is predicted for me to be unemployed with an airline in 2010, however I was strongly put off when someone simply said " what about those pilots who have been made unemployed at present with all their experience " which to me makes me think is it worthwhile spending £9000 on an instructor's course only to find that more experienced pilots are returning to their instructor jobs or getting instructor jobs with heaps more experience?
Also for the coming year its set to remain fairly poor on the whole pilot job side of things so becoming an instructor might not be such a good idea. Saying that however a flying instructors rating is a good thing to have behind you and certainly could be a rewarding career path to take.
Any particular courses you are looking at?
Hi Hotdog
I am thinking of the CRI course. It is not a full instructors course but it allows a PPL holder to give type conversion training and check rides to other PPL holders. It is very limited I know but I am not looking to get a CPL. Perhaps if we still had the BCPL I would consider being a paid instructor. My thinking is it will keep me current without spending much money. Also looking at the AOPA Ground Instructors course which I would enjoy teaching and would sharpen my knowledge of the PPL subjects but again I am apprehensive and sure there are plenty of fully qualified instructors fighting for these jobs.
Chris
Sounds like an excellent course to me I think you should go for it, there will always be a need for people to revalidate ratings etc!
Hotdog , 9000 for a FI course??
Who was that with, most of the ones i've seen are between 5.5 and 7.5k
Mcgoo
The FI course I had looked at was with the company Im with now, CTC Aviation and that £9000 would include the accomodation and facilites etc over here.
I know it seems expensive on further research- I hadnt really looked into many other schools at the time I mentioned it above. Looks like the 'popular' schools seem to think they can chuck an extra few grand on top for 'better quality'!
Still my opinion remains, is even 5.5k worth it if there are plenty of able instructors and pilots out there?
Hotdog
Did you do the CRI course Chris?
