Default Average Price of a Medical Exam

Just a short boring thread for people...

What is the average price you find yourself paying for Class 1 / 2 medical examinations? I need a class 1 renewal and I cant remember how much I paid for the last one.

Asking one of my friends recently it appears hes paid around £150 for a renewal! For the benefit of those who want to start flying then some estimates / average prices on here might be useful. Im sure you can get cheaper than £150.

I seem to recall paying around £120-130 last time on my class one, and I cant remember the cost of my class 2. I wonder if airlines have some set up with medical examiners for cheaper / discounted medicals? Maybe some class 2 examiners should offer a small discount for certain club members in return for an advert in a local flying school etc to help make things cheaper for us all!

    Any ideas on prices?

I believe I paid around £115-£120 for my Class 2 Medical, but that was back in 2009 @ Halfpenny Green.

All good fun doing the urine test inside a windy WW2 outdoor toilet on the Apron!

Realised my last post wasn't too helpful to those looking for an initial, class 1 or ecg's etc so looked up the price list

    Cheers Paul

Had some quotes, ranging between £135-155 for class 1 renewals, just the medical, blood test etc not including an ECG

Always good to have a blood test - just to make sure you still have some! 8o)

Got quotes ranging from £130-165 for a class 1 renewal in Liverpool. However when it comes to your big medical with ECG, audiogram etc it will be more like £240 for the renewal

I ended up travelling home to my hometown and I found a guy who renewed my medical for £115 which is so much cheaper.

So I guess my advice is to look for a medical examiner who doesn't live anywhere near an international airport to avoid the ridiculous prices

My latest one in Luton cost £150. Interestingly he only accepted cash only, would be nice to see how much of that he declared. Had a look for a few others in the surrounding area but convenience v additional cost of petrol meant it wasn't really worth it.
