    Smile Air Law Exam Soon!

I am getting good scores at www.pplquiz.co.uk so going to sit my Air Law soon!

However one question got me mad!

    It said something like...

"You are flying at night and you see a single white light, this means that..."

and the answer that was correct said....

"An aircraft is travelling in roughly the same direction as you".

What utter tosh, an Airship has a single white nose light in addition to its nav lights and would be heading straight towards you? Is that not correct?

I agree that most aircraft have a white tail light, but airships have a white nose light sometimes?

Absolutely right Chris. It's been a long time since my air law exam and I couldn't remember (luckily I dont fly at night and I've never come across an airship!) I just looked it up though and you're right an airship has a single white light 110 degrees both sides of straight ahead.

You have kind of answered the question yourself Chris, the question asked "You are flying at night and you see a single white light, this means that...".

If they were referring to the white light on the front of an airship, you would also see one or both of the position/nav lights, seeing a single white light can only mean it is the one at the rear and thus the aircraft is travelling in the same direction as you!

Poorly worded I agree, would be better worded as "a single light, coloured white"
If it flies, floats or f**ks, it's cheaper to rent it!

    Thumbs up

    Hi McGoo,

Thanks for the input, after looking I can see that the 110* of the Nav Lights, does cover immediately in front of the craft (I had in my head that it didn't reach to the front or rear for some reason).

    Cheers for clearing that up!
