Not really convinced :-)
Fantastic to watch but my body doesn't agree to it!
Can't but the feeling when all those horses come to life though!!
As it's been mentioned already, training pilots can often see a go around as a bad thing when really it needs to be drilled into new pilots that a go around isn't bad at all, it's simply another attempt for the safety of those on board in a way.
It takes a while but at some point you have to really get into the mind set that when your flying you make the decisions and if there is the slightest doubt in the back of your mind then do something about it, don't let it get to the point where you're in danger because you left it too late. Next time you step foot in the plane that you fly, have it in the back of your head that you are in control and you will decide everything- so if your high on finals or too fast then just go around- I'll have a small bet with you that your instructor will be impressed on your decision making- it shows confidence for one.
If you ever get onto commercial flying you will understand that there are pressures on you to burn as little fuel as you can and to get from A to B on time and in an efficient way, so sometimes these pressures can cause you to argue with yourself about commencing a go around or making a divert so you have to just tell yourself- no, I am going to do this because I'm the one in control, not the boss in the office on the ground whos quite safe in his leather chair. But no pressures should ever stop you from making a decision that could prevent you jepardising the safety of a flight and this has to be made clear, nobody will laugh at you or moan at you if you act on a situation that could potentially turn bad.
I remember during my IR training I wasn't on speed or at the correct height prior to the descent point / final approach point on one of my approaches and because I didn't want to make a mess of the whole approach, struggle to get onto profile the whole way down and make a mess of my landing I initiated an early missed approach. My instructor wasnt overly happy that I then had to join the hold again and make another approach adding 15 minutes onto the already late lesson but in the debrief he said well done on making the decision.
So yeh all in all if in doubt do something about it and once you've said to yourself or out aloud "going around" then stick to it, don't change your mind! As a good saying goes: Be safe, be practical be commerically expedicious" and stick to these words in that order of priority. eg be safe- if your approach is dangerously low or your speed is low then go around even if its practical and expedicious to continue...
Be confident, confidence is the key- you're the one in control!
