chris how much is it an hour for training in the cessna and whats the membership fee i was looking at joining aero's in the new year but now i know som1 is at another club there time to rethink

Hi Jiggly,
Originally I priced joining based on the Piper Warrior prices, but many people fly that aircraft because its in mint condition and a really nice example.
The Cessna, most people dont fly because they were trained on the Warrior at Take Flight. It flies beautifully! If I fly it and a few others fly it regulary then we can get the price down even more than it is at current!
At the moment I am paying (starting in Jan 2011).
Membership @ £20 per month.
Cessna 172 Rental @ £115 ph wet weekdays.
Instructor @ £30 per hour.
If I fly once a month (I am to fly more often now though) it costs me £165 per lesson. Thats saving me £20 per hour over the Cirrus. If I fly more than once a month it gets even cheaper due to the membership cost being spread over multiple hours training.
Another reason I chose take flight was that they were the quickest to get back to me - I sent both enquiries at the same time!
All pricing is available at: http://www.takeflightaviation.co.uk/...0PriceList.pdf
But beware the VAT change in 2011 that will just kill us all for fun!
I am flying tomorrow weather permitting!! Flapless and Glide circuits!! Great fun!! 8o)

So much for the circuit work...

the web cams are quite useful shame they dont look out on to the runway

I remember that webcam from my PPL training! Quite handy really, as are the live weather feeds as you say.
Last time I was at aeros in Wellesbourne I started working there (for all of 2 days before clearing off to easyJet!) and I can recommend the instructors that work there, I've flown with some of them when back in the day it was Wellesbourne Aviation and they really are superb, ie John Smith, Tally Bisla etc
I think Aeros do an unlimited membership as opposed to month by month and also just for the record I think Takeflight mainly do the commercial training so could be handy if you were thinking of continuing onto more advanced training.
Carefull on the Cessna pricing though- I think from what I remember (although I may be totally wrong here) the price for PPL training on the Cessna is cheaper than the Robin, yet for the trial lessons and possibly PPL packages they will put you on the Cessnas because they are cheaper (and actually quite unreliable from what certain people told me!....)
I highly recommend the Robin HR200 if you decide to do your training at Wellesbourne, but at the same time most of my commercial training was done in the Cessna and it was partly the most enjoyable flying I have ever done!

Also, for those that are in and out of Wellesbourne regularly, perhaps it might be a good idea to get some form of basic A4 flyer printed off advertising networking pilot / "the pilots club" soon to be?
I know they have lots of notice boards and lots of members who read the notice boards so could be good to get a handful more members. If Paul is happy for that and Wellesbourne clubs are too (which Im sure they are!) then Im happy to knock up some flyer in PDF to print out
Just an idea...

Nice one Morbz...I will get a flyer knocked up in the next week or so

The Take-Flight Webcam luckily looks out onto the airfield as its a hemispheric lens (includes the wellesbourne cam views plus all the parts they can't see! Unfortunatly its only available to members.
In terms of the Cessna, they can't be more unreliable than a Thierlert powered aircraft such as the old Piper Warrior I used to fly. That and the DA42's used to leak fuel and / or oil all over the apron on a regular basis - thats if they hadn't ingested their own parts on a previous flight or roll to the fuel bay lol. Also the concern that was always on my mind - not being able to properly check the fuel pump due to the location under the cowl!
I find the Cessna 172 the most comfortable to fly out of the 3 aircraft types i've flown! Although for my 6' 2" height its not the easiest to get in and out of haha.
Look forward to the flyers!
