Fiest Trial Flight
Good Evening to all, been a long time
Had my first trail fllight at wellsbourne on tuesday had the choice between a cessna or a robin i chose the robin. the weather was brilliant cloud base was roughly 3000 feet. i was quiet surprised on my first trial flight the instrucor let me taxi to the holding point awaiting clearance to take off. he took off and at roughly 1200 feet handed the controls to me and asked me to continue climbing to around 1800 feet he then leveled off and showed me how the controls worked. I coundn;t take the smile off my face. i have def decieded to do my ppl but am not sure which one to do ppl or nppl any advise welcome. hopefully going to start my ppl in next few weeks aiming for 2 lessons a month maybe 3 money permitted.

Hello JigglyJohnson.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the flight. There are a few differences between the two, a full breakdown can be found online in the LASORS publication, LASORS 2008 | Publications | CAA A few differences anyway;
- Fewer hours potentially on the NPPL course, depending on any remedial/extra hours, therefore cheaper.
- NPPL is more restrictive, UK FIR only. JAR-PPL can be used abroad.
- With the NPPL you cant get extra ratings such as night rating
If you opt for the NPPL don't stress too much about the decision because the good news is that you can upgrade it later on to obtain a JAR-PPL. It would probably be a good idea to speak to some people at the flying club who are doing the NPPL to get some direct feedback from them about the course. Enjoy your next flight when your up!
